After Charles received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Cape Breton University, he went on to graduate from Dalhousie University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. He then left his home in Cape Breton to move to Brantford, Ontario where he started his career as a physiotherapist in a hospital setting. While at the hospital and working part-time at a physiotherapy clinic, Charles saw a variety of injuries and surgeries. He also worked at the sports injury clinic, with a local orthopaedic surgeon at Brantford General Hospital.

Since graduating, Charles has taken post-graduate courses across North America that deal with low back and neck pain, as well as shoulder, knee and sports injuries. An active player of many sports himself, especially hockey, football, baseball and golf, Charles maintains great enthusiasm while taking these courses and also when working with his patients.

Charles helped open CAN Health Physiotherapy in 2003 and took over full ownership of the clinic in 2007. In December of 2005, Charles opened West Brant Physiotherapy and as a resident of West Brant himself, he is glad to have his business in the local Brantford community. In May, 2010, Charles restructured his organization and moved forward with one clinic in Brantford-West Brant Physiotherapy & Massage Therapy.

Jonathan Burak’s path to physiotherapy began with his involvement in downhill ski racing, where he ascended to the level of the Ontario Mens’ Downhill Ski Team and competed at national and international levels. Being treated with physiotherapy on a regular basis when competing showed him the great benefits that could be had by sports physiotherapy.

After completing a Bachelor of Physical Education and Health degree at the University of Toronto, Jonathan went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy at McMaster University. After 6 years of university level education, Jonathan went on to begin treating patients with the same dedication and commitment he used when competing as a downhill ski racer. If you would like to book in for an assessment with Jonathan contact West Brant Physiotherapy.

Apart from formal university education, Jonathan has pursued numerous post-graduate courses, some of which include training in acupuncture, manipulation and mobilization, TMJ assessment and treatment, therapeutic taping, and the McKenzie Approach to low back care. With a background in elite level sports competition, Jonathan also sought out to add the proper theory to his real world experience by becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has also attended international sports medicine and cardiac rehabiliation conferences in order to ensure he is aware of the latest research and information pertaining to these patient populations and areas of care. More recently, Jon has taken some courses dealing with Male Pelvic Health issues and is very eager to start working more with that patient population.

Jillian MacLean graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S. in 2000. She practiced in St. John’s, NL briefly before moving to Brantford and taking a job at the Woodstock General Hospital. Jillian has a great deal of experience dealing with post operative rehabilitation for knee scopes and knee and hip replacements. She also has taken some courses dealing with shoulder pain, back pain and female pelvic health. Presently, Jillian is now working full-time at the Woodstock General Hospital but continues to do occasional consults for our clinic for certain conditions such as post total knee and hip replacement surgeries and shoulder/postural issues.

Away from work, Jillian stays active with running but these days she spends most of her time running around with her kids Matty and Josie, with their sports.

Mike was born and raised in Brantford, Ontario. Mike attended high school at Assumption College and North Park Collegiate and played baseball for 10 years as a catcher for the Brantford Minor Baseball Association Travel Teams. However due to scholastic obligations, Mike had to give up baseball at the age of nineteen to pursue his Massage Therapy education. As a teenager Mike worked with a pro hockey team which gave him the inspiration of pursuing his profession in healthcare.

At Alexandrian Institute in Hamilton, Mike completed his education as a Certified Massage Therapist and graduated in April 2000. In the summer of 2000, Mike married Andrea McGregor.

In February of 2001, Mike began his career officially as he started at a chiropractic clinic. This was a great fit because this, at the time was a brand new business. After a few years, Mike decided that he wanted to expand services and he joined CAN Health Physiotherapy in August of 2003. Mike now practices full-time at West Brant Physiotherapy & Massage Therapy, where he has practiced since December, 2005.
Mike takes great pride in all of his work. He will strive to ensure that everything is explained and understood by each and every client.
